I have since made all of my short stories free, and this novelette $0.99 I wasn't selling much so I figured why not make them free? I'm doing this because I'd much rather have my stories be read than make a little money off of them. That said when my novel comes out in a few months I'm still not sure if I want it to be $2.99, or $3.99, or $4.99. I've spent a lot of time writing it and revising it. I still can't see selling it for only $0.99, but I'm unsure what I'll price it at from there. I've been reading a lot lately too on how people don't read books they get for $0.99 because they just sit at the bottom of their reading list - they assign less value to the book becaus it was so cheap.

Great post, Laith. I grew up in the 70s and 80s, a little before your time, but I remember some of those shows, too. My favorite was Star Trek. But I've been a long time reader and have more memories of me trying to get my brothers and sisters to lower the volume down so I can read rather than actually watching the shows.

Do you remember when at 11pm, the TV announcer would say: "It's 11 o'clock. Do you know where your children are?"

You want to subject your daughters to all those old shows? (shudder) Well, each to their own! :)

Keep up the good work, Dan. I came to the same realization about sleep eight months or so ago, and I'll tell you, I get more done sleeping 7 or more hours than I do sleeping six and working past my bed time. Plus, I'm in better spirits throughout the day. I'm sorry to hear about your ER experiences, I can't imagine. Keep your chin up and finish that book!

Wow, thanks. I'll think about it. I wanted a short story to put out for Halloween and my sister in law told my wife and I how she was going to join her friend who was house sitting in a huge house. Her friend said she was creeped out being there all alone and the story idea just went from there. I also had the idea a few weeks earlier that if I was driving at gunpoint, what would I do to get out of it and had the idea to try and take the person's seat belt off just before crashing. I have written 3 full novels, and one shorter one (a novella) - but I haven't published any of them yet. They need some revision and editing, which I'm finding takes forever compared to a short story :) I am over halfway through revising one of them, a science fiction adventure novel, and then I'll be publishing it once I get some feedback from some readers to see if they can find stuff to improve in the story. If you want to be one of those beta readers just send me an email (danabso[at]hotmail[dot]com) and I'll put you on the list. Thank you so much for your comments - you made my day! :) I wrote this story just before Christmas in December of last year. I was trying to think of what a good Christmas story would have and I thought of the song Christmas Shoes by Bob Carlisle. It's a country song that's very touching. I don't really like country, but my wife does and when I heard the song for the first time on the radio I was really touched. I'll paste the lyrics down below. I wanted a story where someone does a selfless act and gives something to someone who in a way doesn't deserve it. Most of that comes from my Christian faith. I believe that Jesus died on the cross and in doing so took all of my sins away. I did not deserve the sacrifice Jesus made on the tree just like the bully didn't deserve a V.R. Supercube. Thanks again for such kind comments, it really did make my day, and here are those lyrics:

Many DOS games have helped influence games of today some very basic ideas are still continued in the market today. Platformers are constantly used over and over and are making a big return in many modern games. In which a lot of modern games have returned to the roots and going back to basic principles seen in many classic games. These games are now flooding mobile network app markets.
