The Last Butterscotch - New Cover

One of my favorite science fiction short stories now has a third attempt at a cover. I've never liked the second iteration and I don't know why I've let it stay as it is for so long. In one sense it comunicates that it's a children's story which is what I was going for but it's just not a good cover. It is a good story for kids and so I changed it from the first scary looking cover into this one but now I'm trying again. So here it is. My new cover that hints at the twist in the story but hopefully doesn't give it away.

You can pick up a copy of the story for free in every eBook format you could want here on Smashwords. Let me know what you think. More of an audiobook fan? Listen to the story complete with sound effects here. Thanks for stopping by!

Calling All Beta Readers!

I am currently writing something unlike anything I've ever written before. I'm writing a romance drama novel. Think The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks as far as genre, but a very different story that revolves around love and tragedy. You know what's cool? My wife had the idea and sat down with me as we wrote the 1,700 word outline together.

It draws heavily from our life and the many struggles we've had with our children's medical conditions but also uses stories of other lives we've heard about to crank up the drama to eleven. The characters are going to go through A LOT of crap which is something I've really been trying to improve in my stories. Everything is always too easy for my characters. In the writing of this novel I'm going to put them through hell. The unimaginable is going to happen to them. Can their relationship survive? Can they survive? I don't know what I would do with myself if I went through what we've planned for this poor couple.

I'm posting new chapters on Wattpad. I just started writing it so I'm only up to two chapters as I write this blog post, but I'm hoping to bust the story out fast. If you have a ton of patience and don't mind waiting for the next chapter to be posted every week or so then I'd love your feedback on what's working and what's not working in my story. It should end up being a pretty short novel at around 60,000 words but that's just a guess at this point. I'd really love your feedback and it could help me shape and mold my story to be a better one! If you go on this journey with me I'll be sure to send you a free copy when it's all said and done. So come join me on this long road and thanks for stopping by.

I'm A Published Author!

Okay, so technically I've had short stories published as eBooks for quite a while now, but this is in a real paperback book put out by a real publisher! This is a dream come true! I'm so excited to hold a copy in my hands and read the other great stories inside by the other authors. Five Rivers Publishing is releasing A Method to the Madness: A Guide to the Super Evil on June 1st - the thing is it became available on Amazon early and apparently people already have copies out in the wild as proven by the video below!

And here's the beautiful cover:

Support me and the other awesome authors and get yourself a copy. You can order it for $18 on the Fiver Rivers site, or get it on Amazon for about the same price now. Thanks for stopping by! What a day this is for me. I'm so excited!!!

One last thing, if you're also an author in this book use this Avatar in your social media places if you want to:

"Danthology" Available Now

My anthology "Danthology" is now available at Smashwords, Amazon Kindle, and Apple's iBook store. It will be in Barnes and Noble online, and many other online retailers soon. It is a collection of all my short stories in one place. In the order they appear you will find Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Thriller genres. These stories are a mix of children's stories, middle grade, young adult, and genre fiction for adults - though all of it would be rated no more than PG. You can listen to all of the stories for free, or get them all as individual eBooks for free on Smashwords, but I thought it would be nice to have them all in one place for a cheap price in case anyone just wanted to snag them all in one download. I also wanted to have a way to put these stories in Amazon's Kindle store. As a self published author I cannot make my books free on Amazon, so I put them all together for a buck. You'll find that the stories have been through another editing pass from the podcast edition, but nothing more than grammar or a different turn of phrase has ever been changed. As I write more short stories I will be adding them to this anthology, so check back for updates. If you've purchased the book you can always go back and download it again to get the new stories. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy! I hope you had a very happy Halloween and if you're doing NaNoWriMo this year be sure to become my writing buddy. I made it easy with a button on the upper right of my website. Now go get that 1,667 words for the day!
